The inaugural Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship is set to be held Feb. 13-15, 2016. It will be a 54-hole event with a 90 player field. The tournament will be held at TPC Myrtle Beach and will feature a field of 60 boys and 30 girls from eight countries and 12 states. A local qualifier for boys and girls from Horry, Georgetown and Brunswick counties will be held on Jan. 30th at Myrtle Beach National’s West Course. One boy and one girl will earn their way into the championship. The possibility exists for alternates to gain entry into the event depending on late withdrawals.

Qualifier entry fees are $40 and the deadline is Jan. 28 and boys and girls ages 13-18 are eligible to enter at www.worldjuniorgolfchampionship.com.

A tournament committee will select applicants based on a list of criteria. The committee is made up of Allen Terrell, the director of the Dustin Johnson Golf School, representatives of Golf Holiday and TPC owner Founders Group International.

Players that are expected include 12 from China, four from Canada and others from Japan, Sweden, the Philippines, England and Scotland. The U.S. will be represented by players from the Carolinas, Georgia, Maryland, Florida, California, Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, Indiana and New Jersey.

This is a great new event to be held on one of the top Myrtle Beach golf courses. The tournament should continue to grow and become a showcase for Myrtle Beach and the outstanding Myrtle Beach golf courses.
